4047102520_2de2e432a3Marin Lutheran Church is well-known in the community as having a long-standing tradition of fostering and supporting fine music and musicians.  The charming and intimate sanctuary is a locus of sacred music making, and is regarded for its warm and inviting acoustics.

An excellent fifteen-voice Adult Choir and an instrumental ensemble enhance our services.  We regularly invite a variety of musicians from the community to share their gifts with the congregation:  at any service one might hear a fine cellist playing a Bach Prelude, or a gospel vocalist singing Wade in the Water, a brass ensemble offering a Gabrieli Canzona, or even an African drumming ensemble raising-the-roof on another!  In addition, our vibrant music department boasts a multi-generational bell choir named Spirit Ringers.

Services are exciting and meaningful events tailored to the varied needs of today’s community.  At the “blended” 9:00 am service, worship is supported by the Adult Choir and a contemporary instrumental ensemble.  We sing joyful and rhythmic Christian songs that appeal to the young and elder alike.  At the “traditional” 11:00 am service, worship takes on a timeless, musically sophisticated, and contemplative character, evocative of the superb musical traditions that Lutherans are famous for; all supported by the Adult Choir, guest instrumentalists and our stirring Möller Pipe Organ.

Worship assistants provide enviable vocal support to the beautiful services.  Vocalists from the San Francisco Opera, and the Broadway stage lend their considerable talents to singing the great variety of musical settings offered throughout the liturgical year.
