April 29th – CROP Walk

Join the Marin Lutheran Church team of walkers for the CROP Walk on Sunday, April 29th beginning at 2:00 p.m. The walk begins and ends at First Presbyterian Church in San Rafael. People of all faith traditions come together to enjoy a beautiful 3 mile walk through downtown San Rafael for the purpose of raising money to help fight hunger. Proceeds benefit both local as well as international hunger agencies.

May 5th – Parents’ Night Out

Parents: Enjoy a night to yourselves while your kids are being well taken care of at church. Saturday, May 5th from 6:00-9:00 p.m. drop your kids off at church. The youth who are going to the National Youth Gathering this summer in New Orleans, along with adult supervision, will watch your kids. They will enjoy dinner together, games, fun, stories and a movie while you enjoy a night out. Please RSVP by May 2nd.

This is a fundraiser to help the youth get to New Orleans: Suggested donations for the evening are: 1 child – $25; 2 children – $40; 3 kids – $50.

Holy Week and Easter Services & Activities

Maundy Thursday
April 5th, Service at 7:00 p.m.
This service includes a procession with the symbols of this Holy day; the opportunity for individual laying on of hands by pastors and forgiveness of our sin; the opportunity to have our feet washed if we so desire; partaking in Holy Communion and the stripping of the altar inpreparation for Good Friday.

Good Friday
April 6th, Tenebrae Service at 8:00 p.m.
We hear the passion story of Christ through scripture readings and songs. The service begins with light but as we near Christ’s crucifixion, candles are extinguished and we are left in darkness. As Christians we wait the return of Christ on Easter morning.

Easter Sunday
April 8th, Celebration services at:
7:30 a.m. – A simple celebration service with piano acompaniment. We gather in silence and darkness, but as the Christ candle is raised we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. An Easter message is shared by our pastor. A children’s message and Holy Communion are included. (Please note: child care is not available during this service.)

9:00 a.m. – A festival service led by our choir, piano and instrumental ensemble (flute, saxophone, guitar, bass & percussion). The children are invited to join in processionals at the beginning of the service and during the choral offering. A children’s message is included. Our pastor shares the resurrection message with us. Holy Communion is celebrated. Child care is available through age five.

11:00 a.m. – A festival service with organ, trumpets and choir. The children will be invited to process at the beginning of the service. A children’s message is included. Our pastor shares the resurrection message with us. Holy Communion is celebrated. Child care is available through age five.

Easter Activities
Easter Brunch for everyone will be held in the Parish Hall beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Between the 9:00 & 11:00 a.m. services, an egg hunt will be held children through 5th grade.

Wednesday Lenten Suppers and Services

Each Wednesday during the season of Lent, we will gather for a simple soup supper followed by a service.

The suppers will begin at 6:15pm in the Parish Hall. Come for delicious soup and fellowship.

At 7:00pm in the sanctuary, we will hold a Lenten service using the Holden Evening Prayer Service.

Please join us on Wednesdays, February 29th, March 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th.

Schedule:
8:15am                       Meet at church for carpooling (Drivers and cars will already be
arranged
10:00am – 12noon Two morning meeting sessions with a break
12:00 – 12:30pm     Free time / prepare for lunch
12:30 – 1:30pm       Lunch & free time
1:30 – 2:30pm         Afternoon meeting session
2:30pm                      Visit to the Art Center / Gift shop
3:00 – 3:45pm         Short closing service with Holy Communion in the chapel
3:45 – 4:00pm         Prepare for return

We plan to be home between 5:15 – 5:30pm

You are invited to bring a notebook and Bible. You may also bring handwork if you like such as knitting or crocheting.
